Everquest II - Our New Addiction (submitted by Fernis at 05:40pm CDT) The time has come for Dawning Nemesis Guild to move into the highly anticipated EverquestII (EQII). After spending nearly three months in Age of Conan enduring a game that had tremendous unrealized potential we have decided to move to Everquest II. AOC is continuously weakening and shows little promise for the future. AOC was no longer worthy and deserving of our efforts as a guild. Everquest II is a highly anticipated game that is sure to have a great player base with strong 3rd party support in the form of web site resources. Everquest II is already more polished in a live state than AOC was several months into the live game. The future is bright in Everquest II for Dawning Nemesis Guild. Our focus will be on rediscovering old friends as we make our way through the new game. I want to focus on building a strong foundation and bonding our member base. DN's unique culture is what makes the guild so appealing. Let's get back to the basics. Let's get back to each other. Let's get back to being DN! I am personally inviting all past members that would like to rejoin the DN family to come back as full members bypassing the application process. There will be a 30 day window after we move for this offer to remain valid. If you would like to rejoin the guild please contact an officer here on the forums and they will take care of you. |

DKP (submitted by Fernis at 05:40pm CDT) What is DKP? I’ll start off by giving you the “official” answer. I am working on a post of FAQ about how we run our DKP system. But this is a general explanation of exactly what DKP is. DKP or dragon kill points, is a point system used in online games, specifically MMPORGS such as Age of Conan, Vanguard, World of Warcraft, Everquest, and EverQuest II, to distribute items among groups of players. Players receive DKP points from attending events with their guild or clan, and can use these points to "buy" loot (items) that drops at a future date. This system allows more active members to receive more/better rewards, whereas those who contribute less receive less in turn. The DKP system was originally named and developed by the EverQuest guild "Afterlife" in 1999. Why DKP? Many MMORPGs have high-end items which are randomly generated in small numbers when certain very powerful enemies in the game, or "bosses," are defeated. Typically, these items "drop" in quantities much smaller than the total number of players in the group required to defeat them, so a means of deciding which of the players should receive the items is required. One method is random chance. Some games, such as World of Warcraft, have built-in mechanisms by which players can decide the distribution of items by chance. But many players find this system, though "fair" in the sense that any player in the group has equal probability of receiving the item, unsatisfying. For example, with random distribution, it is possible for newer members of the group to receive items that existing members have expended great effort to find. Many players prefer a means to afford to those players that most participate in the activities that generate these items an increased ability to successfully win these items compared to those players who participate less. Goals of DKP systems DKP systems are often a balancing act of a number of conflicting goals. Some properties that would be desired in a system: Items should be assigned in a way perceived as fair by the participating members. Items should be assigned in a way that increases the overall strength of the guild/clan, thus making future encounters easier. The system should be relatively easy to administer and understand. How do I earn DKP? ~Attend RAIDS!~ ~Recruit (5 dkp for every person who mentions you in their application dkp will only be awarded if they are voted into the guild) ~Leveling (every 20 lvls is worth 10 dkp) If you join the guild and you are already level 80 you will be retroactively credited 40 dkp. You must post on the boards notifying the officers that you want your lvl dkp bonus. ~First guild kill bonuses are also rewarded How does the DN dkp system work? When loot drops the officers will loot it and "auction" it off in the raid channel. If you would like the item send the auctioning officer a tell. We will always tell the raid how much dkp the item is going for...once everyone who wants the item has bid the officer will go to the DKP site and do a compare of CURRENT dkp of all bidders. Person with the highest DKP wins. The officer then deducts the cost of the won item from the winning toons dkp total. For example...you have 70 dkp, you bid on and win an item that we are auctioning off for 15 dkp. 70-15=55 you will now have 55 dkp remaining. What if two bidders are tied in DKP? If two members have the exact same amount of DKP the loot will go to the person with the highest raid attendance. What if there is a mistake with my DKP? We have a thread just for corrections to DKP. Please post there. Do not send an officer an email or tell in game. We have a thread just for DKP corrections. |

Basic concepts of Dawning Nemesis (submitted by Fernis at 04:33pm CST) Basic concepts of Dawning Nemesis: * No Drama! Dawning Nemesis is a friendly, mature, productive environment where drama is not tolerated. We have a zero tolerance for drama. If you seek a place to entertain yourself with drama then Dawning Nemesis isn't the place for you. * Expected behavior is to be as a considerate adult. We DO NOT bash other guilds. If you find the need to empower yourself by belittling others, then Dawning Nemesis isn't for you. This type of behavior will not be tolerated for any reason. If you have any concerns or questions about what makes a considerate adult, Dawning Nemesis may not be your kind of guild. * Members of Dawning Nemesis strives for quality in our gameplay, such as being on time for an event when scheduled, with quick travel, to know your strengths and weaknesses of your particular class, and be able to show your expertise in handling that class. We feel that gameplay and behavior is what sets apart a great player not the loot. * Progression, yes Dawning Nemesis definitely wants to progress and take on challenging targets on a regular basis. We pride ourselves on achieving takedowns with nearly flawless execution with minimal numbers. Loot is always an exciting measure of progress and we certainly aim to get some. * Attempt to include all that Everquest II has to offer in many different ways such as raids, quests, grinding, etc. * Dawning Nemesis is always open to aid small guilds as well as individuals who may be in need of progress. * Dawning Nemesis is always looking for "Diamonds in the Rough" to polish and allow them to shine in our Guild environment. Many players simply have not been given a chance to experience certain raid events and advanced play styles. Dawning Nemesis wants to find those players and give them a chance to excel and become first class players. * It is not about what Dawning Nemesis can do for you only, but what you can bring to the Dawning Nemesis environment for all those that play.
